Robust Simulation of Shared Memory: 20 Years After
نویسنده
چکیده
The article explores the concept of simulating the abstraction of a shared memory in message passing systems, despite the existence of failures. This abstraction provides an atomic register accessed with read and write operations. This article describes the Attiya, Bar-Noy and Dolev simulation, its origins and generalizations, as well as its applications in theory and practice. Dedicated to the 60th birthday of Danny Dolev

Semiotics of Collective Memory of the Iran-Iraq War (Holy Defence): A Case Study of the Shared Images in Virtual Social Networks
This study aims to achieve a semiotic understanding of collective memory of the Iran-Iraq war. For this purpose, samples of images in virtual social networks shared in response to the news of discovery and return of the bodies of more than 175 divers have been analyzed. Visual signs in photographs, cartoons, graphic designs, prints, paintings and posters, in methods of historical pictures and f...
متن کاملRoad Departure Avoidance System Based on the Driver Decision Estimator
In this paper a robust road departure avoidance system based on a closed-loop driver decision estimator (DDE) is presented. The main idea is that of incorporating the driver intent in the control of the vehicle. The driver decision estimator computes the vehicle look ahead lateral position based on the driver input and uses this position to establish the risk of road departure. To induce a risk...
متن کاملEfficient Shared Memory Multiprocessing and Object-Oriented Programming
Object-oriented techniques are shown to hold promise for addressing the growing speed gap between memory and processors on shared-memory multiprocessors. However, reducing cache misses can be at the expense of more misses from the translation lookaside buffer (TLB—a cache of recent page translations). This paper presents simulation results from use of a library called OOSH (Object-Oriented Libr...

We present PARDISO, a new scalable parallel sparse direct linear solver on shared memory multiprocessors. In this paper, we describe the parallel fac-torization algorithm which utilizes the supernode structure of the matrix to reduce the number of memory references with Level 3 BLAS. We also propose enhancements that signiicantly reduce the communication rate for pipelining parallelism. The res...
متن کاملDesign and Evaluation of a Switch
Cache coherent non-uniform memory access (CC-NUMA) multiprocessors provide a scal-able design for shared memory but they continue to suuer from large remote memory access latencies due to comparatively slow memory technology and data transfer latencies in the in-terconnection network. In this paper, we propose a novel hardware caching technique, called switch cache, to improve the remote memory...
